چکیده

Considering the fact that only pores can transport water, in homogeneous control volume are conceptualized as a three-dimensional orthogonal network of line elements, which is contrast to continuum hypothesis traditional numerical approaches. The related flow velocity, hydraulic conductivity and continuity equation equivalent model formulated based on principle balance. Subsequently, unified form for velocity established local coordinate system, finite line-element method developed, steady free surface reduced one-dimensional form, difficulty greatly decreased. proposed validated by good agreements locations with other methods through rectangular dam right trapezoidal dam, respectively. It found not heavily dependent mesh size penalty parameter. Steady left bank abutment slope Kajiwa Dam Southwestern China further evaluated, parabolic variational inequality algorithm also employed comparison. consistent results indicate capture behavior well continuum-based method. Moreover, rapidly achieve accurate solutions whether simple examples or complicated engineering applications.

Non-newtonian fluid flow through three-dimensional disordered porous media.

We investigate the flow of various non-newtonian fluids through three-dimensional disordered porous media by direct numerical simulation of momentum transport and continuity equations. Remarkably, our results for power-law (PL) fluids indicate that the flow, when quantified in terms of a properly modified permeability-like index and Reynolds number, can be successfully described by a single (un...

A “v2-f Based” Macroscopic K-Ε Model for Turbulent Flow through Porous Media

In this paper a new macroscopic k-ε model is developed and validated for turbulent flow through porous media for a wide range of porosities. The morphology of porous media is simulated by a periodic array of square cylinders. In the first step, calculations based on microscopic v2 − f model are conducted using a Galerkin/Least-Squares finite element formulation, employing equalorder bilinear ve...

Finite Element Simulation of Three-Dimensional Free-Surface Flow Problems

An adaptive finite element algorithm is described for the stable solution of three-dimensional free-surface-flow problems based primarily on the use of node movement. The algorithm also includes a discrete remeshing procedure which enhances its accuracy and robustness. The spatial discretisation allows an isoparametric piecewise-quadratic approximation of the domain geometry for accurate resolu...

Heat Transfer in Three-Dimensional Flow along a Porous Plate

An analysis of heat transfer in the flow of a viscous, in-compressible fluid along an infinite porous plate is presented when the plate is subjected to a transverse sinusoidal suction. The flow field becomes three-dimensional due to this type of suction velocity. Expressions for the flow and temperature fields are obtained by series expansion method. It is found during the course of discussion ...

An experimental study on hydraulic behavior of free-surface radial flow in coarse-grained porous media

The equations of fluids in porous media are very useful in designing the rockfill and diversion dams, gabions, breakwaters and ground water reserves. Researches have been showed that the Forchheimer equation is not sufficient for the analysis of hydraulic behavior of free-surface radial flows; because, in these flows, in addition to the hydraulic gradient and velocity, the variable of radius is...
